There are many breeds that are known for their courage and persistence, but few of them display more valiant heart and dogged persistence than a terrier that fits the miniature bull terrier breed standard. A small dog, this terrier is proud, stubborn, energetic and trainable with patience. Generally, they are very intelligent and display an ability to find trouble or to create a little trouble all by themselves. However, their independent temperament makes them pretty easy to forgive, if not train. A well-socialized puppy will make a better adult dog, but the miniature bull terrier is not a dog that is motivated to please his owner. This is a breed that was created to be independent, and they are.

The AKC miniature bull terrier breed standard requires that they be no more than fourteen inches at the shoulder. This small size seems to indicate that the miniature bull terrier is suitable for a small home or apartment, but this breed requires stimulation and an enclosed outdoor area in which he can be free to explore and survey is ideal. This is a dog that will enjoy toys and games and these incentives can be used as training devices. The Mini bull is a busy dog that needs a busy active family or individual owner who can spend a lot of time with him. It is possible that the mini bull will not get along well with other pets, unless they are well socialized and integrated into the home, together. And one must remember that they do possess the ability to become destructive if they are allowed to be alone too much or too long and if they are not given plenty of human interaction.

One of the best characteristics of the miniature bull terrier is that they are fiercely courageous and loyal and become very attached to their family and are reasonably good watchdogs with the willingness to alert the family to strangers. A mini bull has no concept of their actual size and may endanger themselves by taking on a much larger dog. Fitting the miniature bull terrier breed standard requires that they be healthy and sturdy and that their coat is short and rough. They will require very little grooming and are low maintenance dogs in the home.
